Class NR

We have been learning all about autumn.  We went on a ‘bear hunt’ through the leaves and learnt about the different animals that need to get ready for their winter sleep.  We used different autumnal colours to make pictures and collages and used the leaves that we had collected to make pictures and leaf rubbings.

We have also been learning about the history of Guy Fawkes and why we have bonfires and fireworks on the 5th November.  We made our own rockets and tested them outside to see which travelled the longest distance.  We tried to improve them and to think of ways to make them go faster and farther.

We decided to find out where our packed lunch food came from and our school dinners.  We learnt how foods are produced and whether they come from animals or plants,  what foods we can produce in our own country and what comes from abroad.  We made a food pyramid to show what we should be eating lots of and what foods should be saved as ‘treats’ and how different foods affect our bodies.  We had a ‘Healthy eating dinner party’ at which we greeted everyone, used a knife and fork with our food and tried different foods from all the different food groups in our food pyramid.
