Class TD This term, we have been looking at ‘Ourselves’. We have painted self portraits, looked at our senses and even had a go at smelling and tasting various foods! We discussed emotions and talked about our feelings at different times. We have looked at skeletons and our bodies and studied various life cycles. We investigated Autumn and pattern and colour, made a scarecrow and looked at the stories of ‘There was an old lady who swallowed a fly’, ‘The Little Red Hen’ and ‘Hairy Maclary’.
We have also looked closely at the world we live in. In particular, we looked at differences between our school and that of schools in Ethiopia and our lives and Ethiopian children’s lives. We have been using our observation skills to make detailed drawings from photographs and we have been finding information about African wild animals and their habitats.
During the latter half of the term, we have had spooky goings on in the class when talking about Halloween and we have made some delicious ghost biscuits. We have also looked at the Hindu festival of ‘Diwali’ and made Rangoli patterns and learnt the famous story of ‘Rama and Sita’.
Class MB Our topic this term is all about Native American Indians. It has been great fun leaning about their culture. We have learnt how to communicate with sign language, create some of our own exciting picture stories, learnt about the power of dream catchers and then made some of our own and much much more!
We made some delicious pumpkin soup during harvest time and created some lovely Autumn poems. We learnt about Diwali and made some special lamps using clay. We have also been learning about colours and discovering more about each other through our ‘Special Person’ book each week.
