Football (Y3-4)

The year 3 and 4 after school football club has begun. We start each session with warm up exercises followed by full body stretches. We then practice key skills including dribbling the ball and passing to other players in our team. Finally, we play a match where each player is encouraged to put their skills into action, and demonstrate team work as they play against the other side.

Craft

In craft club we have begun to make memo clips. We have used the template of an elephant or a cat which we are decorating and adding features to including googly eyes and sequins. We will then attach our template to a clothes peg to create our memo clip which can be used to hold important things together like photographs. Later in the term, we also hope to make photo frames.

Year 2 - Class ACM

Welcome to Year 2 where an exciting academic year of learning has begun. The curriculum for Year 2 will include three main topics this year and will be covered through cross-curricular projects and a range of open ended activities intended to engage, stimulate and challenge all children.

Space

Our first topic for the autumn term is space. We began our class topic by holding a class discussion to answer the question “what is important in our world?” This talk helped us to appreciate the small things in our lives that are special to us, including the smell of a beautiful flower and the cuddles that we get from our families. During the course of the term, we will learn about the solar system, life for an astronaut, the effects of gravity and the position of our world in the universe as a whole. We hope to produce creative pieces of writing including inventing our own aliens! We will also create exciting art work and carry out scientific investigations including making balloon rockets and testing the effects of gravity.

Investigations/Styles of Language

During the course of the year, we will carry out a range of mathematical investigations including those related to units of measure such as length and capacity. We will also explore a range of different styles of language including instructions and poetry and we will take part in class debates where we will explore different points of view related to a topical issue.

Christmas Production

Year 2 will be a part of the Christmas production this year alongside Reception and Year 1 children. This will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this Christian festival through song, drama and dance.

Other Activities

Year 1 and 2 will take part in a weekly games session every Tuesday afternoon. We will also have the opportunity to use the art room, library and recording studio during the academic year.
